BYD's Song Ultra EV launches March 26 with pre-sales already open from 155,000 yuan ($22,510). Four trims span up to 185,000 yuan. It's BYD's first B-class (mid-size) pure electric SUV in the Dynasty lineup, and it comes with the full flash-charging spec.
The Song Ultra EV measures 4,850 mm long, 1,910 mm wide, and 1,670 mm tall on a 2,840 mm wheelbase. A single rear-mounted motor produces 270 kW with a 210 km/h top speed. Two range options: 620 km and 710 km under CLTC standards.
Flash-Charging Numbers
At BYD's 1,500 kW stations: 10-97% in approximately 9 minutes at normal temperatures. At minus 30 degrees Celsius, charging extends to about 12 minutes. These figures match the rest of BYD's second-generation Blade Battery lineup, confirming the technology has trickled down from flagships to volume models.
Technology
The DiSus-C intelligent body control system is included, along with a high-speed tire blowout stabilization feature effective at up to 140 km/h. The latter is a safety system that maintains directional stability if a tire fails at highway speeds.
Competitive Position
The Song Ultra EV competes directly with the Sealion 06 within BYD's own portfolio, which raises questions about internal cannibalization. Externally, it targets the compact-to-mid-size electric SUV segment where Tesla's Model Y, Geely's Galaxy E5, and NIO's Onvo L60 all operate. At $22,510, BYD is undercutting most of them significantly.
Official launch with full pricing and configuration details is set for March 26, 2026.
