Cayenne Electric Driver Experience: Four Displays, AR HUD, and Physical Buttons Survive

Porsche has detailed the Cayenne Electric's interior architecture, built around a "Digital Interaction" concept with up to four displays and an AI voice assistant. The critical detail: physical buttons survived.

The dashboard features a curved OLED "Flow Display" as the central unit. A 14.25-inch fully digital OLED instrument cluster handles driving data, navigation, and assistance systems. An optional 14.9-inch co-driver display enables entertainment and video streaming. An optional 87-inch augmented reality head-up display projects road information 10 meters ahead.

Voice and Digital Key

The Porsche Voice Pilot runs on large language models and, according to Car-IT board member Sajjad Khan, "not only understands what you say but also what you mean." That's the kind of claim that needs real-world validation, but the intent is handling complex, interconnected queries rather than simple command-response.

The Digital Key uses ultra-wideband (UWB) technology via smartphone or smartwatch, shareable with up to seven users with customizable permissions. Five color schemes modify the Flow Display, instrument cluster, ambient lighting, and digital interfaces simultaneously.

What Didn't Go Touchscreen

Capacitive buttons on the display edges handle core functions. Steering wheel spoke controls remain physical. Below-display buttons cover radio, telephone, climate, lighting, Porsche Electric Sport Sound (PESS), and parking assistance. Two freely configurable "joker buttons" let owners assign their most-used functions. A newly developed wrist pad supports ergonomic operation of the center display.

Over-the-air updates will add new functions throughout the vehicle's life. WLTP consumption: Cayenne Electric 21.8-19.7 kWh/100 km; Cayenne Turbo Electric 22.4-20.4 kWh/100 km. Both zero CO2.
