Honda Cuts China Capacity From 1.2 Million to 720,000 as GAC Plant Closes

Honda will close at least one GAC joint-venture plant in China by June, with a second Dongfeng-JV closure under review. Sales fell 24 percent in 2025 to 647,000 vehicles, off a 1.2-million peak in 2023. The retreat takes Honda's China footprint down to roughly the scale of one Chinese domestic brand's global operation.
