Chery sold 56,879 units of the QQ3 EV within two hours of its launch event on March 30. Starting at 58,900 yuan ($8,540), the hatchback undercuts its own pre-sale price by 10,000 yuan and lands squarely in the sub-$10K segment that's becoming China's fiercest battleground.
Four variants hit the market. The 310 km Love Edition opens at 58,900 yuan, the 310 km Share Edition at 67,900 yuan, the 420 km Love Edition at 68,900 yuan, and the 420 km Share Edition tops out at 78,900 yuan. All prices are limited-time launch offers.
Two Battery Packs, Two Motors
The powertrain is rear-mounted, rear-wheel drive across the range. The base motor produces 58 kW with 90 Nm. Step up and you get 90 kW with 115 Nm. Battery options are a 29.48 kWh pack (310 km CLTC) and a 41.28 kWh pack (420 km CLTC). Fast charging from 30% to 80% takes no more than 16.5 minutes, which is competitive for this price bracket.
V2L capability is standard: 3.3 kW and 6.6 kW output. For a car under $9,000, that's unusual.
More Screen Than Expected
The cabin centers around a 15.6-inch 2.5K display running on a Qualcomm Snapdragon 8155 chip. Higher trims add an 8.8-inch instrument cluster. The QQ3 connects to Apple CarPlay, Huawei HiCar, and Carlink. A "Carmind" AI voice agent handles cabin controls.
Storage is generous for a small hatchback: 70L front trunk, 375L rear cargo expanding to 1,450L with seats folded, and 38 storage areas scattered around the cabin. Heated and ventilated front seats are available on upper trims.
ADAS as an Option
The optional Falcon 500 system uses a Horizon J6E chip with 80 TOPS of computing power. It covers highway navigation assist and automated parking. At this price point, making it optional rather than standard is the pragmatic call: buyers who want a basic city runabout shouldn't subsidize features they won't use.
The Numbers That Actually Matter
At 4,195 mm long with a 2,700 mm wheelbase, the QQ3 is compact but not tiny. It sits closer to a supermini than a microcar. For reference, a VW Polo is 4,074 mm. The QQ3 gives you 121 mm more length, an electric powertrain, and costs roughly a third of what a Polo does in Europe.
56,879 orders in two hours speaks for itself. Chery's pricing undercut even the pre-sale expectations, and the spec sheet punches well above its weight class. Deliveries are expected to ramp through Q2 2026.
