Geely Galaxy Starshine 7 PHEV Starts at $15,600 With 230 km EV Range

Geely opened pre-sales for the Galaxy Starshine 7 PHEV sedan at 112,800 to 142,800 yuan ($15,600 to $19,700), targeting the BYD Qin L and Seal 06 with 230 km of EV range and a 5.4-second AWD variant.

Geely Galaxy Starshine 7 PHEV Starts at $15,600 With 230 km EV Range

Geely opened pre-sales for the Galaxy Starshine 7 on April 16, pricing its new plug-in hybrid sedan between 112,800 and 142,800 yuan (roughly 15,600 to 19,700 US dollars). The lineup spans four trims and lands directly on top of the BYD Qin L and Seal 06, the segment's incumbent bestsellers. If BYD's answer this week was flash charging on the Han EV, Geely's answer is to undercut the Qin L on price while matching it on electric range.

Delivery dates were not announced at pre-sale. Showroom arrivals are expected shortly.

Leishen AI Hybrid 2.0: 230 km of Pure EV, Then the Engine Kicks In

The three front-wheel-drive Starshine 7 trims ship with a 28-kWh battery and 230 km of pure electric range on the CLTC cycle. That is the headline figure Geely is pushing: 230 km of commuting without ever touching gasoline, in a 112,800-yuan sedan. The powertrain combines an internal combustion engine with the new Leishen 2.0 hybrid system, Geely's latest in-house PHEV stack.

The pricing ladder is unusually flat. The 230 km Voyage starts at 112,800 yuan, the Pilot adds 9,000 yuan for more driver assistance content, and the Explorer+ tops the FWD range at 128,800 yuan. All three share the same battery, same EV range, same front-drive layout.

AWD Starshine Edition: 312 kW, 526 Nm, 5.4 Seconds to 100

The AWD trim is the interesting one. At 142,800 yuan (around 19,700 US dollars), Geely adds a rear motor, dropping the electric range from 230 to 220 km but delivering 312 kW and 526 Nm of combined output. Geely quotes 0 to 100 km/h in 5.4 seconds, which puts a 20,000-dollar Chinese sedan inside sports-car numbers.

There is no AWD Qin L. The Starshine 7's combination of sub-20,000-dollar pricing, 220 km of electric range, and a 5.4-second PHEV performance variant has no direct rival on the Chinese market today. Whether Geely can actually build it at that price without margin suicide is the question Wang Chuanfu will be asking at BYD next week.

Dimensions come in at 4,958 mm long, 1,915 mm wide, 1,505 mm tall, with a 2,852 mm wheelbase. That is Camry-class footprint inside the Chinese sedan segment.

Suspension pairs adaptive damping with a five-link independent rear, not the torsion beam the price point would normally justify. The cockpit uses a 10.25-inch instrument cluster alongside a 15.6-inch central screen running Flyme Auto 2, the Geely-Meizu software layer that already ships on the Lynk & Co and Zeekr side of the empire. Sixteen-speaker audio is standard.

The ADAS package is Geely's H3 stack, with 26 sensors supporting highway navigation assist and automated parking. No LiDAR, matching the vision-plus-radar direction most of the Chinese mass market is now converging on.

The BYD Problem Geely Is Trying to Create

The Qin L and Seal 06 sit in the 100,000-to-150,000 yuan sedan segment that BYD has effectively owned for three years. Geely's bet with the Starshine 7 is that buyers in 2026 want more electric range and adaptive damping at the entry price, and that they will pay a 10,000-yuan premium for an AWD variant BYD does not offer.

The launch timing is not an accident. Dealers receive the Starshine 7 the same week BYD is rolling the Blade Battery 2.0 refresh of the Han EV into showrooms. Geely is not fighting on charging speed. It is fighting on the spec sheet at every price point below 150,000 yuan. The April and May sales numbers will show whether the Qin L's customer base is as loyal as BYD's executives hope.

Pre-order deposits are open now at Geely dealers nationwide, with the 142,800 yuan AWD Starshine Edition expected to be the volume trim.
