Geely Xingyuan Hits 500,000 Deliveries in Just 14 Months

The $9,360 electric hatchback became China's best-selling NEV of 2025 with 429,628 retail units through November, outselling BYD Seagull.

Geely Xingyuan Hits 500,000 Deliveries in Just 14 Months

Geely's Xingyuan electric hatchback hit 500,000 deliveries on December 23, 2025, just 14 months after its October 2024 launch. To put that pace in context: the car has been averaging over 35,000 units per month since day one, with six consecutive months above 40,000 units between June and November.

The numbers are staggering for a car that starts at 65,800 yuan ($9,360 for the 2026 model). January through November 2025 retail sales reached 429,628 units, making the Xingyuan the best-selling new energy vehicle in China for the period. It outsold the BYD Seagull, the BYD Dolphin, and ranked third globally for EV sales in Q3 2025, trailing only the Tesla Model Y and Model 3.

⚡ Budget EV, Serious Platform

The Xingyuan runs on a rear-mounted motor available in two outputs: 58 kW for the base and 85 kW for the extended-range model. CATL supplies the LFP battery packs in 30.12 kWh and 40.16 kWh capacities, translating to 310 km and 410 km of range respectively. At 4,135 mm long on a 2,650 mm wheelbase, it's a proper city car that doesn't pretend to be anything larger.

The original launch price was 69,800 yuan, but Geely dropped the 2026 model to a limited-time 65,800 yuan when it refreshed in October 2025. That's aggressive pricing even by Chinese EV standards, where sub-$10,000 electric cars are rewriting the rules of what a new vehicle should cost.

The Monthly Numbers Tell the Story

Peak month was September 2024 at 48,080 units. November 2025 still pulled 44,239 units, showing no meaningful sales decay more than a year after launch. That consistency is rare. Most Chinese EVs spike at launch and fade within six months as competitors undercut them. The Xingyuan has held because Geely nailed the intersection of price, range, and brand trust.

The BYD Seagull, its closest rival, offers similar range from a smaller package at a comparable price. But Geely's dealer network and the Xingyuan's slightly larger footprint have been enough to maintain the edge. Whether that holds through 2026 depends on BYD's response, which historically comes fast and priced to hurt.

For global context, 500,000 deliveries in 14 months puts the Xingyuan ahead of the pace set by the Wuling Hongguang Mini EV, which took roughly 18 months to reach the same milestone. Geely's EV strategy is working, and the Xingyuan is the clearest proof.
